All St John Brigade members may look forward to receiving training and experiential learning in the following areas:
First Aid & Life Support
First Aid & Life Support includes the Basic and Adult First Aid syllabus, CPR+AED and Basic Cardiac Life Support, for fundamental First Aid skills, expandable through on-the-job training, Public Duties and additional courses. Interested members can take advanced courses to become Life Support Instructors or First Aid lecturers with the St John Association and St John Responder Unit.
Home Nursing
Home Nursing equips members with the knowledge to care for the sick in the comfort of their own homes. Lessons covering vital skills culminated for the Basic Home Nursing certification; and may be able to join the exclusive Hospital Attachment Programme, learning about the ward duties of nurses at Singapore’s restructured hospitals.
Transportation of Casualties
Transportation of Casualties trains our members to transport the injured and overcome obstacles to safety, both with and without the use of stretchers. Members may also have the opportunity to train on our ambulances, and put their knowledge to practice through on-the-job training at Public Duties.
Foot Drill
Foot Drill imparts discipline, resilience, and unity in our uniformed groups. Members will engage in parades and ceremonies at their respective Corps, Districts, or the National Headquarters, and may have exclusive chances to march for the National Day Parade or Singapore Youth Festival Opening Ceremony!
Interested members may become instructors through our Drill Instructor Programmes.
Cadet Proficiency Badges Scheme
The Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme (CPBS) aims to motivate students and members to broaden their skills beyond regular curriculum during their leisure time. The activities intends to foster an all-rounded education, encouraging personal growth and complementing St John’s core value of First Aid, preparing them for further education and careers after secondary school.
Leadership Courses
St John Cadets undergo two levels of leadership training: Basic & Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers’ Courses.
These courses teaches Corps management, and uncover their strength and leadership potential, instilling lifelong values.
A structured leadership progression continues through Officer Training Courses to groom members advancing their ranks after their Cadet journey.
